Commitment to Privacy
The Center for High Impact Philanthropy at the University of Pennsylvania is committed to providing access to research and other resources online in a manner that respects and protects your privacy. This statement describes our information collection practices and explains how we use and protect your personal information for our own impact assessment.
Scope
This statement applies only to information collected by this web site.
What we collect and why
The kind of information we collect from you online depends on how you decide to use our website. If you choose simply to browse our site, you will not need to submit any personal information at all.
Email Addresses: You might choose to provide us with your personally identifiable information by such means as emailing us. If you choose to contact us by email, we will keep your contact information private although we may use it to respond to your message. If you specify that you would like to be added to our listserv, we will keep your contact information private and use it only to send you updates on our Center’s work, and any relevant news.
Form Data: We may ask that you fill out certain forms on our website to access certain research material and/or resources. We use this information to better understand how our research is making an impact. For example, we may follow-up with a survey to assess whether our material is helpful, if it is understandable, and if it results in better giving decisions. (See below disclaimer on “Cookies.”)
Web Analytics: Our system may also gather certain technical data about your visit, which helps us understand better how our site is being used and how we can improve it. This automatically gathered information does not identify you personally; it may include your computer's IP or "Internet Protocol" address, as well as statistics about how visitors navigate through our site, and how many reports have been downloaded over a period of time.
Cookies
Cookies are files that many web sites transfer to users' hard drives to enable the site to deliver personalized services or to provide persistent authentication. The information contained in a cookie typically includes information collected automatically by the web server and/or information provided voluntarily by the user. The user controls, via the computer’s operating system, whether cookies will be accepted and, if so, how they will be handled (for example, deleted or saved). Our web site uses cookie technology for data collected via forms. If the user blocks cookies, however, this will not affect the functionality of this site. This will only require that a user re-enter their information in order to access certain research material and/or resources.
Sharing your information
We will not share your information with third parties except:
- as required by law,
- as necessary to protect the University's interests,
- with service providers acting on our behalf who have agreed to protect the confidentiality of the data.

This site may contain links to other web sites not affiliated with our office. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these other sites, including other University of Pennsylvania sites.
