Haiti Relief Effort: Chicagoans raising money, collecting food and medicine… (Chicago Tribune)

Pierre Romeus' heart is with Haiti, and not just because several of his relatives are still missing after this week's earthquake.

The Chicagoan wants to help his homeland, so he put out a call Thursday for people to bring canned goods to the South Side shopping center he owns. At the same time, he hadn't yet figured out how to get the stacks of food to the island.

"I've shipped things before to Haiti. I think I know how to do it," he said with a shrug.
